In 1985 I got a one year scholarship through American Scandinavian Foundation and a job as secretary at IBM in New York. I was in heaven because of many reasons, but also because of the technical learning’s I made. Until that day I had not touched a computer, but now I was sent off to as many classes I wanted and I founded that I learned fast. It was actually me that after class helped my American colleagues. I joined the IBM-AIESEC e-list, and at once I hade 50 networking friends. I was invited to parties, picnics, travels and other events. I was never lonely, thanks to the e-list.
In 1986 I moved to Stockholm and started to work in the advertising industry. Desktop publishing, Mac and ICQ was hot. I learned a lot from my colleagues and the tech industry since the clients we hade was Telia, Nokia and Microsoft. For five years I worked as Account Executive on the Microsoft Nordic account and I was involved in one of the largest launches that Microsoft ever have had; the Windows’95 launch. That year Internet got hot.
In 1992 I was a crew member of a female sail racing team. We were sponsored by GEAB and Bob Erixon gave us cell phones. For us it was a fantastic device for keep a group of 13 girls updated on latest information to prepare for races.
In 1997 I was recruited by the tour operator Ving to start up there’s e-business in Scandinavia, and in 2001 I was recruited by the Scandinavian Airlines as e-Business Developer. The company hade expansion plans and in need of recruiting 5000 people. Then 9/11 occurred…..Instead 6000 employees where laid of and I was one of them. I started my own company Netsky e-Business Development in 2003. Since 2006 I work for the train operator SJ with e-business, and studying General Management on distance at Henley Management College in London.
To keep my large interest on top about web and tech development I attend a lot of seminars. One of the best seminars in Stockholm is SIME. I have attended this event since 1997. Now web 2.0 is hot, which I define as social and user participating media.
My interest in the tech industry is the user and business perspective, not the tech it self.
I run my own blog, but I’m not able to spend as much time posting as I would like to.
Now I’m curious about you and what the future has to bring……
Please, share your story.
